About me

Hi! Here's a little something about myself...

I live in Eugene, Oregon with my husband Abraham and daughter Drisana.  I went to college at the University of Oregon and majored in Sociology and Women's and Gender Studies with a minor in English. Almost finished a second major in Journalism, but it was time to graduate!

I love, love, love knitting, did I say that I love knitting? Yeah, I do. I always wanted to knit but never really made the time.  It wasn't until I was in my 30s I said, "This is it, I really want to learn!". I tried teaching myself, but alas I needed help. I took my first hat class at my LYS here in Eugene. Best thing I ever did. Knitting became more than just about knitting something with yarn, it was about a sense of self, a way to refocus, relax, socialize with like minded people, and challenge myself with new projects.  Like most knitters, I'm excitedly thinking about the next creation while knitting the current one. Will it be for me, my husband or daughter? A friend, or family member? Probably a little of both. I wish I could say knitting was more than a hobby, but currently I do have a full time job that has nothing to do with knitting. Bummer. Maybe someday.  I've always got my ear to the ground and my eyes on the web in search of the next yarn shop I've never heard of in Oregon, or researching the next conference/festival I'd like to attend. I have a great knitting group of gal pals that I meet with once a month called "Peeps". We eat, drink wine, chat about our lives, knit and share our latest projects. They've become more than just knitting buddies, they are family.  We've attend the Rose City Yarn Crawl, Madrona Fiber Arts, Oregon Flock and Fiber Festival and the Black Sheep Gathering together over the years. Boy do we sure have a lot of fun. They are some of the finest, loving, educated, spunky, sassy ladies I've ever met.

I like to dabble in photography and bought myself a nice Nikon a few years back. I started this blog as a way to share my journey in knitting and maybe showcase some of my photographs, along with anything else that interests me. I love listening to music, anything and everything, cooking, sewing, traveling, back road day trips, being outdoors, video games, camping, hiking, fishing, riding bikes, bookstores, reading and more reading. I could spend all day in a book shop. I have a shelf full of cooking and knitting books that keeps growing. I started practicing yoga earlier this year and enjoy the serenity and self introspect. My friend Shawna got me interested in playing the Ukulele too! While I cannot say that I've practice in some time, I will say it's mighty fun.
Boston Terrier~
We have a Boston Terrier named Dexter Morgan, yes after the famous TV serial killer. Dexy boy will be 2 years old on October 25. He has lightened up our families lives more than I think we ever thought a dog could when we decided to get one. He's so loving, a snuggler, a blanket hog ( and blanket burrower) , and can run like wind. No soft toys for this guy, they are destroyed in less than a minute. I've learned how to make our own tug toys with fleece and cut up jeans/t-shirts.  If you're a Boston Lover then you know they have a ton of energy and need to get out of the house and run. He will stand next to you for literally days waiting for you to throw the ball for yet the umpteenth time. If only I had his patience. He will stand by me for however long it takes while I knit with his ball in his mouth waiting  for me to throw it down the hall. He's attached himself to me, even though he loves wrestling with my husband and sitting with my daughter on her bed while she does her homework. He follows me everywhere I go. Privacy is a thing of the past, but hey he's a guy who doesn't judge, and loves me no matter what. Actually ok, that sounds like my husband too! I belong to a Facebook page called Eugene Boston Terrier Club and we have about 63 people and counting. For the last two years we have attended an event called the Boston Tea Party in September. This year there were 34 Bostons!!! Yay. It's set out in the country on a beautiful farm with lots of room for the pups to run around while the Humans can socialize and talk about all their Bostons funny antics. If you have a Boston please feel free to join the group.
